Our grant process is rather lengthy, running 6 months between the date the Letter of Inquiry (LOI) Window opens and the date Grant Decisions are mailed. Therefore, we ask that applicants pay close attention to our Application Timetable to ensure the need that is outlined in the proposal is aligned with our funding dates.
The following is a summary of the steps to apply for a grant.
For more complete instructions, please refer to Application Instructions.
1. Create an Account.
Click on the link at the bottom of this page labeled “Apply.” This will take you to a new page where you can set up an account with the Foundation. Click on “Create New Account,” submit all pertinent information, and choose a password.
2. Review.
On the “Application Status” page, please review your contact information and then click “Apply.” The next page lists the application forms; please carefully review them to see that you are using the correct form.
3. New Organizations: Complete a Letter of Inquiry (LOI).
This is NOT an application for a grant. The purpose of the Letter of Inquiry is to provide summary information regarding your organization and request so that a decision can be made whether to offer your organization the opportunity to apply for a grant. If your organization is offered the opportunity to apply for a grant, we will send you an email with a link to the full application form. If it is decided that your organization is not a good fit, you will receive an email explaining our decision to discontinue the application process. The deadlines for the LOI are February 15 and July 15.
Returning Organizations: Complete a Proposal Synopsis.
Since we are familiar with your organization and your project, you will be able to complete an abbreviated application for continued support. However, if you are submitting a request for a different project within your organization, please make sure that you review the forms carefully to make sure that you complete the correct one.
4. Apply for a Grant.
If you have received an email with a link to the full application, please fill it out, providing details about the mission of your non-profit, its objectives, population served, programs, and the nature of your request. Once your application is complete and submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. The deadlines to submit initial applications (returning organizations) are February 15 and July 15. This will be followed by a clarification and dialogue period. Final submission deadlines for all applications are April 1 and September 1.
