Who We Are

  RIVENDELL:
Ken and Jean Hansen named their home and subsequently their foundation after the refuge for elves, hobbits, dwarfs, and wizards found in the imaginary world of J. R. R. Tolkien. In Tolkien's world of Middle Earth, Bilbo the adventuresome hobbit and his companions "…came to the Last Homely House and found its doors flung wide… [The] house was perfect whether you like food or sleep or work or storytelling or just sitting and thinking best or a pleasant mixture of them all…. Their clothes were mended as well as their bruises, their tempers, and their hopes…. Their plans were improved with the best advice." The generosity of Rivendell inspired Ken and Jean and their legacy continues to motivate the trustees of RST to this day.

STEWARDS:
We seek to serve Jesus Christ as stewards of God's resources in order to support those who communicate the love of God through words and actions. "Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God's mysteries.
Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy" (1 Corinthians 4:1-2).

TRUST:
We have been entrusted with resources and commissioned to fulfill the mandate of the Trust agreement. We seek to fulfill this trust faithfully by trusting in the guidance of the Spirit of God.
